Clever Dragons is an educational and entertaining website exclusively for boys from kindergarten through eighth grade. On Clever Dragons boys can access interactive learning materials, play age-appropriate games, view specifically selected videos and communicate with their friends. By completing the learning materials and videos users can earn Gold Coins - the virtual currency on Clever Dragons. This currency can then be used to play games or access other fun content. Together with www.always-icecream.com, its "sister site" for girls, Clever Dragons is the first website that combines all these aspects of online usage in an educational and safe format.

Can girls join Clever Dragons?
We recommend that girls use Always Icecream (www.always-icecream.com), the girls-only equivalent of Clever Dragons. Some girls, however, prefer Dragons over Unicorns and blue over pink. In this case, we recommend to choose the "educational-only" version of Clever Dragons that allows girls to access the learning games, but not to interact with other members.

Why do you offer different sites for boys and girls?
We strongly believe in equality between boys and girls when it comes to academic achievements. Therefore, both Always Icecream and Clever Dragons offer the same educational content. However, when it comes to social interaction, and expression through play and art-work, many children enjoy being in a "girls-only" or "boys-only" environment. This is similar to the tried-and-true experience of "boys scouts" versus "girls scouts."

Why did you build Clever Dragons?
Dr. Johannes Ziegler, the founder and CEO of Clever Dragons, has three young daughters and two sons of his own. Together with his wife Swenja, an experienced homeschooling mom, he came up with the idea for Clever Dragons when he was looking for an appropriate website for them. In search of a site that combines safety, fun, educational value and online networking he was unhappy with the existing sites and decided to build first Always Icecream for girls and then Clever Dragons for boys.

What is the educational philosophy behind Clever Dragons?
The core idea behind Clever Dragons is that children learn more when they are motivated and in a positive mood. Therefore, Clever Dragons "packages" drills in academic core subjects in the format of fun games. Rewards are given at all levels, including recognition of creative artwork by their peers. In addition, Clever Dragons emphasizes the role of parents in their children's education. Therefore, any category of learning games and videos, for example, religious education, can be activated or de-activated through the parents account. Every week, we send out a report on learning achievements so parents can monitor the progress made by their children.

Does Clever Dragons teach evolution?
At Clever Dragons we try to exclude content, such as evolution and the origin of life, that is contentious in some communities. There are plenty of educational subjects that are taught and appreciated by parents and teachers of any world view. These are the areas that boys can practice on Clever Dragons.

Is my son safe on Clever Dragons?
User safety is our most important concern. Clever Dragons is using several methods and processes to ensure user safety and privacy. In particular, anonymous memberships are virtually impossible. This is achieved through the authentification and identification of all parent users as well as the purchasers of gift certificates. In addition, the site's content is continuously scanned for inappropriate content. Users can also report any concerns or problems they encounter to Clever Dragons staff. Why do boys have to pay for their membership?
Clever Dragons is for registered members only. Membership requires a modest monthly or annual membership fee. This enables the Miaplaza Inc., the operator of the site, to keep the site advertising free which makes for a more pleasant and safe online experience.

How much does it cost?
Clever Dragons is free of advertising. We never sell or rent any user data. The membership fee is $5.95 per month with a monthly subscription or $3.95 per month with an annual membership. We also offer a two-month and a lifetime membership. In addition to constantly adding new features to the site, we use the funds we receive to develop, on average, one new educational game for our members every week. Your parent account is free of charge.

I have two sons. Do I need two accounts for them?
On Clever Dragons every boy should have his own account and yes, this means you'll need to purchase two separate accounts (but you only need one parent account for all your sons). This way every boy can create his own artwork, track his own learning progress, raise and care for his own pets and earn and spend his own Gold Coins.

I have a daughter on Always Icecream and a son on Clever Dragons. Can I use the same parents account?
Unfortunately, for technical and usability reasons, you will need to set up separate parents accounts on both sites. You can, however, use the same email address for both accounts.
